Miner 75
Short Film
2019-2020
The Film’s Philosophical Background
When we see a tree, we see the potential for it to become studs for a house, paper to print on, or the structure of a tree fort. We see uranium as either a reactor or a bomb. This tendency to see resources as their final use for us has been termed enframing by Heidegger. This short film tackles this philosophical idea using a goopy, sloopy, intangible Resource as the primary medium. The Bureau of Intangible Resources (BIR) uses the Resource to build some of the most powerful military technologies.
Log Line
An aging Miner sets about his day of work at the mysterious Bureau of Intangible Resources. However, today, the goopy intangible Resource behaves in a way he’s never before encountered. When the slime takes over and transforms his precious tools he is forced to reconcile a new and different world.
