The Digital Picnic
Installation Design and Fabrication
2018

The Digital Picnic was commissioned in 2018 by the Illinois School of Architecture and the Urbana Food Hall.  The design uses digital projectors to create a unique indoor picnic experience.  Diners used a custom designed control device to scrub through the landscape image type, color, and transition effect that would be displayed on the adjacent walls.  With a massive variety of options each dining experience was entirely unique, and users could even request custom images to be added to the display set.   During the cold winter months the Digital Picnic allowed users to be transported to a place much different than the wind-swept prairies of Illinois.
